Merritt Parkway Crash With Car Fire

Firefighters UPDATE: At 4:44 pm on January 19, 2019 the Westport Fire Department responded to Route 15 north for a reported motor vehicle accident with a car on fire. The initial response included 2 Engines, 1 Heavy Rescue and the Shift Commander from Westport and 1 Engine, 1 Truck and the Shift Commander from Fairfield. Upon arrival it was determined that one vehicle crossed the divider and collided with an oncoming car causing the second vehicle to catch on fire. All occupants were removed from the vehicles by good Samaritans and the fire was quickly extinguished by Westport Engine Company 6. Former Westport Soccer Coach Arrested Again For Public Indecency

#Norwalk CT--On September 26, 2018, Patrol Division Officers investigated a complaint that a male suspect had driven up to victim walking a dog on Winfield Street at Sasqua Road. The suspect exposed himself to the victim while masturbating. The suspect then drove away but circled back by the victim two more times while continuing to masturbate before leaving the area. Due to limited information at the time, the suspect was not identified. Special Victims Unit Detective Kristina LaPak assumed the investigation and later learned that the Fairfield Police Department had a similar incident in October 2018. Westport Police Nab Burglary Suspect

#Westport, CT - On 12/23/2018, officers responded to a Sandhopper Trail address on the report of a burglary. The victim reported her vehicle and residence, both of which had been unlocked, were entered between 1:00 am and 5:00 am while the residents were home sleeping. A purse containing credit cards and cash were stolen from the victim’s vehicle. A computer and backpack were stolen from the living room. One of the victim’s credit cards was used later that morning at McDonald's and Sunoco in Norwalk. The total value of items taken was estimated to be one thousand eight hundred and fifty dollars ($1,850.00). Westport, CT -- Director of Human Services Elaine Daignault announces the return of the American Job Center Southwest’s Career Coach at Westport Town Hall.  On Thursday, January 10, 2019, the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. followed by an intermediate class in PowerPoint 2013 from 1 – 3 p.m.  The Career Coach is a “training center” tour bus equipped with ten wireless computer labs offering free computer classes to residents in the greater Norwalk area.  The mobile unit operates on a monthly schedule of visits to various community locations and is accessible to people with disabilities. Westport News: Multiple Charges After Pursuit

On 10/08/2018, Daisha Haynes and Jovan Boyd were arrested following a brief pursuit with Westport officers. Haynes and Boyd had fled the suspect vehicle and were arrested in a second vehicle shortly after. Hayne’s vehicle was found to contain a large amount of mail stolen from Westport and a number of surrounding towns. She was also found to be in possession of credit cards in the names of ten other individuals.   Detectives contacted owners of the credit cards, including the victim. The victim reported he was recently the victim of identity theft. Several fraudulent credit card accounts and two utility accounts were opened using his personal identifying information. Westport News: Motorized Wheel Chair and Car Collide

(Westport, CT) On 12/13/2018 at approximately 6:00pm, officers were dispatched to the area of 1700 Post Road East on a complaint of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, it was determined the pedestrian was riding a motorized wheelchair at the time of the collision. The incident required temporary closure of Post Road East at that location while officers, Westport Fire and Westport Emergency Medical Services were on scene. The pedestrian, a 57-year-old male from Westport, was transported to Norwalk Hospital with serious injuries. The operator of the vehicle was not injured during the incident and cooperative with investigators.   A preliminary investigation showed that this was a fairly slow speed collision that occurred while the struck party was attempting…
