The Westport Police Department Local Union #2080 and Police Benevolent Association will be hosting their annual Holiday Toy Drive, which provides toys for underprivileged children throughout Fairfield County and beyond. The program has been extremely successful in the past, allowing for thousands of toys to be distributed to children who otherwise would have none. We ask for your continued support and generosity to help make this year’s drive as successful as in the past. Assumption Alarms

1:25pm--Two calls for Assumption Church in two different towns at the same time. Firefighters called for smoke in a building at Assumption Church, Westport on Riverside Drive for smoke in the building.  Then, a call from Assumption Church at North Cliff Street for an activated fire alarm.  Westport's turned out to be an item smoldering in the furnace, contained in the furnace.   Ansonia Firefighters found nothing at their church.   This news report is made possible by:

Westport News: Disobeying the Signal of an Officer: Elude/Attempt Escape

On 11/04/2018 at approximately 1:45 am, an officer observed a dark-colored sedan 11/04/2018 at approximately 1:45 am, an officer observed a dark-colored sedan traveling southbound on Main Street at an extremely high rate of speed. The officer activated his lights and siren while turning around in an attempt to stop the vehicle, however, the vehicle increased speed and evaded units. The suspect vehicle description was put out to the other patrol units. Another officer observed the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Post Road West and Riverside Avenue traveling at a high rate of speed. Westport Veterans Day Services Announced

#Westport, Conn. - William Vornkahl, President of the Westport Veterans Council, announced that the Town of Westport will hold Veterans Day services on Sunday, November 11 in the Town Hall auditorium. The public is invited. At 1:30 pm, the Westport Community Band will present a “Patriotic Salute to All Veterans” program which will include marches and patriotic tunes. In recognition of the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day, the Community Band will include songs from the World War I era. The services will begin at 2:00 pm. #Westport, CT - Director of Human Services Elaine Daignault announces the return of the American Job Center Southwest’s (formerly known as CTWorks) Career Coach at Westport Town Hall.  On Thursday, November 8, 2018 the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft Excel 2013 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in Excel 2013 from 1 – 3 p.m.  The Career Coach is a “training center” tour bus equipped with ten wireless computer labs offering free computer classes to residents in the greater Norwalk area.  The mobile unit operates on a monthly schedule of visits to various community locations and is accessible to people with disabilities. Westport News: Town Clerk’s Office Hours Extended

Westport, CT -  Town Clerk Patricia Strauss announced today that the Town Clerk’s office will be open for absentee voting this Saturday, November 3rdfrom 9 a.m. to 12 noon.  These special office hours are scheduled to accommodate voters applying for an ABSENTEE BALLOT to vote in the STATE ELECTION to be held November 6, 2018. Absentee ballots are available at the Town Clerk’s office daily, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  They will be available through Monday, November 5, until 4:30 p.m.  Ballots must be returned to the Town Clerk’s office no later than 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, when the polls officially close.
