Fire Department UPDATE: On February 7, 2018 at 6:15pm Westport Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a truck on fire at 119 North Avenue. The Westport Fire Department initially responded with 2 Engines and the Shift Commander. While responding the Westport Fire Dispatch received information that the vehicle was close to the house and other vehicles. An additional Engine and Ladder truck were dispatched. Engine 6 from the Coleytown Fire Station was first to arrive and reported a contractors van heavily involved in fire. Engine 6 reported no fire threatening the home or other vehicles. #Westport CT--On August 28, 2017, the Westport Police Department received information from the Connecticut State Police Computer Crime Unit of suspected child pornography being shared online. The complaint involved an unidentified person in Westport sharing a picture of child pornography over Facebook with another unidentified person who does not reside in Connecticut. Sergeant Sereniti Dobson of the Westport Police Youth Division initiated an investigation and was able to identify the suspect who shared the image as Robert Kelly, age 43, of Westport, CT. On January 16, 2018, members of the Westport Detective Bureau, with the assistance of the regional Technical Investigation Unit, executed a search warrant at Kelly’s residence. On 09/09/2017, officers were dispatched to Whole Foods on a report of a shoplifting. Store security reported that a woman hid several items in her purse, but paid for only one item at checkout before leaving the store. She fled when confronted by security who was able to provide officers with the license plate of the vehicle she was operating. Store security also recognized the suspect, identified as Brianna Pennell, as a woman who had been previously banned from all Whole Foods store locations. The investigating officer submitted an arrest warrant application for Pennell, which was later granted and signed by a judge. On Thursday, February 8, 2018, the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft Excel 2013 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in Excel 2013 from 1 – 3 p.m. The Career Coach is a “training center” tour bus equipped with ten wireless computer labs offering free computer classes to residents in the greater Norwalk area. #Westport CT-- Last night, Westport Firefighters was dispatched to a report of a kitchen fire at Whole Foods Market at 7:04 PM. Four Engine Companies, one Truck Company and the Command Car were on the initial dispatch. Additionally, one Engine from Norwalk Fire was sent to the scene. Arriving firefighters found the store to be occupied and had the building evacuated. The source of the fire was found to be improperly stored combustibles on top of a pizza oven. The fire activated the kitchen hood system extinguishing agent, extinguishing any fire in the ductwork.
