2019-06-06 @ 7:00PMish–#Bridgeport CT—First responders said a 5 year old girl is in good condition after being eject from a car she was riding in collided with a SUV at the intersection of Amsterdam and Fairview Avenue. She and her mother were transported to the hospital, two others refused medical treatment. The windshields of both vehicles were intact so the girl must have been ejected from the back window. The intersection is closed for the police investigation.

#Stratford CT–The Stratford Police Department investigated a distraction burglary on Broadbridge Avenue today. The incident occurred at approximately 1030 am when an unidentified male posing as a water company employee used fake identification to gain access to the home stating he needed to check the water in the residence. The homeowner escorted the suspect into the basement at which time two unidentified suspects entered the home and committed the burglary. The suspects fled the scene toward Winter Street prior to police arrival. #Bridgeport CT–On May 30, 2019, between 0800-0815 hours, the Bridgeport Police Department’s Emergency Dispatch Center received a report of a possible abduction. According to the nine ( 9 ) year old victim, as she waited for her school bus at the corner of Logan Street and Stratford Avenue, she was approached by a tall Black male. He grabbed her by her wrist, and attempted to pull her to the back of a church ( “Pentecostal Church of Prayer and Deliverance ” ) located at 1562 Stratford Avenue in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The suspect was unable to pull her away, so picked her up by the waist and carried her to the back of the church. In an empty stairwell, he attempted to lift up her dress and touch her. The victim was able to get away by stepping on his foot and yelling. As the suspect walked away, he covered his head with a Black hooded sweatshirt that he was wearing.

HARTFORD, CT – Governor Ned Lamont is applauding the Connecticut House of Representatives for voting 150-0 to give final passage to legislation he proposed alongside a number of state legislators that aims to recruit more teachers of color into classrooms in public schools throughout Connecticut. The bill, which was approved in the State Senate on May 28 and will next be transmitted to the governor for his signature, addresses roadblocks that keep educators of color out of the classroom, such as reciprocity agreements with other states and developing strategic statewide hiring goals.
Over 40 percent of Connecticut’s student population are people of color, however only 8.7 percent of the state’s public school teachers are people of color.
“Numerous studies have shown that students of color do better in school when they have teachers of color in the classroom, however our state has overwhelming disparities and should be doing more to ensure diversity in our schools, including among faculty,”Governor Lamont said. “All students should have access to positive teaching and learning experiences so they can be prepared for the global workforce that awaits them. Enacting these improvements will be a direct investment in the classroom and in student success. I want to thank the entire Minority Teacher Recruitment Task Force and the co-chairs of the Education Committee for their continued commitment to making sure that we are doing everything we can in our state to both recruit and maintain minority teachers. I applaud both chambers of the General Assembly for voting favorably on this proposal and sending it to my desk so that I can sign it into law.”

Police spokesperson Terron Jones said “an assault took place as a result of a possible robbery of a 60 year old male. Victim in stable condition. PD is investigating.” Police are looking for a black male in his twenties with long hair in a ponytail wearing all black. He fled on a bicycle according to radio reports.
