Fairfield News: Subway Armed Robbery

On Thursday May 2, 2019 the Fairfield Police Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from Subway (709 Post Road) at approximately 7:25 pm reporting an armed robbery had just occurred. The suspect, described as a black male wearing a black beanie style hat, a dark colored jacket and blue jeans displayed a black firearm and took cash from the register. He was last seen running east on the Post Road. There were no injuries as a result and the Fairfield Police Department Detective Bureau is currently investigating. #Westport CT--Just before 0930 this morning, Westport Fire Department was requested to respond to Route 15 northbound for a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries. One Engine, the Rescue and the Shift Commander responded. Subsequent information from the scene reported multiple vehicles involved and people walking around the roadway, so a second Engine was added to the assignment for manpower. Westport EMS, Westport Police and CT State Police also responded to the scene. First arriving Fire Department units found the highway already shut down by traffic between the exit 42 off and on ramps. Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim announced today that the City of Bridgeport will resume paving Thursday, May 2, 2019, on Albion Street. Due to inclement weather conditions, last year’s street paving was suspended early. The Department of Public Facilities will pick up where they had left off with paving Bridgeport’s West End and Westside. The paving is anticipated to last until early June weather permitting. During this time, drivers are continued to be advised of the following: o Adhere to “No Parking” signs that will be posted to roadways 24 hours prior to paving. #Westport CT--On 04/12/2019 at approximately 11:30 pm, the victim reported an illegal dumping complaint on Franklin Street. The victim’s property had been the site of several recent illegal dumping incidents in which a suspect has left boxes containing decapitated chickens. The victim reported a suspect just dropped a bag on his property and was running south on Franklin Street towards Saugatuck Railroad Station. The bag was found to contain two decapitated chickens and one white pigeon. Corporal Smith located the male, identified as Ajamu Obataiye, at the train station. The victim’s home surveillance footage confirmed Obataiye was the suspect.
