Animal Hero Passes

It is with great sadness to report the passing of Jon Nowinski who was a big advocate for animals in our area.  Jon was founding director of EARS which stands for Emerg ency Animal Response Service.  As the name implies respond to emergencies for animals as paramedics respond for humans.  Jon's first big trial was in 2011 during Hurricane Irene, six months before the formation of EARS, helping emergency services with animals.   In 2014 EARS purchased a used ambulance and converted it for animal use.  Jon referred to it as an Uber for animals.  The also assisted firefighters at house fires involving pets.   Jon's sister Lisa Price wrote on Jon's Facebook page: "It is with a heavy heart that I as…

12:02am--#Derby CT-- Multiple reports of a person shot in a drive-by shooting in front of 41 Anson Street. A short time later another report of a person assaulted, punched in the face by the Riverwalk near at Main and Route 8 north entrance ramp. Westport News: Trash And Recycling Changes

Westport, CT - Director of Public Works Peter Ratkiewich announced today that the Westport Transfer Station, located at 300 Sherwood Island Connector, will NOT be accepting residential recycling the week of February 4 – 9.  Additionally, for the safety of all Town residents, the Transfer Station will close at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 5. Due to the complex nature of the Compactor #2 replacement project, residents are requested to hold back their recycling for the one week period while the compactor is being replaced. Westport News: Unwanted Visitor

#Westport CT--On 12/21/2018 at approximately 11:30 pm, officers were dispatched to a Westport residence on a report of an unwanted party. The suspect, identified as Lucas Vanderkamp, left the residence prior to police arrival. Officers learned Vanderkamp had entered the victim’s residence through an unlocked side door, without permission or announcing himself, before sitting in the living room. Vanderkamp left the home when asked to do so. The victim reported they had not spoken to Vanderkamp in three years but had previously made it clear to him he was not welcome on the property.
