2023-12-02@2:41pm--#Bridgeport CT-- The Bridgeport Emergency Communications Center received 911 calls on Saturday alerting them to a fire on Rosedale Street. Bridgeport Fire Units, in coordination with the Bridgeport Police Department (BPD) and American Medical Response (AMR), were promptly dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, the first on-scene units verified a working fire on the third floor, confined to the specified apartment. Rapid efforts by the units led to the quick extinguishing of the fire. Currently, an investigation is underway, and the Red Cross will be providing shelter for two adults and two children affected by the incident. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries during this fire.

Man Dies In Fiery Crash

In Shelton, Connecticut, a fatal accident occurred on Saturday morning when a driver crashed into a tree off Route 8 North around 3:41 a.m. The incident, near Exit 14, involved a Nissan Rouge. The vehicle veered off the road, colliding with a tree, and the impact caused it to catch fire. Tragically, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. As of now, the identity of the driver is unknown to state police, and the next of kin has not been notified.

MURPHY TO VISIT HEAD START PROGRAM

HARTFORD—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, on Friday will visit the CREC Head Start at the Swift Factory. More than 5,500 children and families are served by Head Start in Connecticut. Murphy will tour the facilities and gather feedback from staff on both the workforce shortage and extremely high demand for care they face. Murphy will discuss the importance of Congress taking action to pass additional funding for childcare in President Biden’s supplemental domestic funding package.
