The Town of Fairfield’s Office of Community & Economic Development wishes to remind the public that the Fairfield Sidewalk Sale & Street Fair will take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., rain or shine. Select merchants will offer advance sales of discount merchandise beginning on Thursday, July 17th. Norwalk Man Arrested for Sexual Assault of Child

Norwalk Police arrested 60-year-old Jose Rodriguez after a months-long investigation into allegations of repeated sexual assaults against a 5-year-old child. The investigation began on March 20, 2025, when the child identified Rodriguez as the suspect. The case was led by the Norwalk Police Special Victims Unit, with assistance from DCF, The Children’s Connection, Yale New Haven Hospital, and the Stamford State’s Attorney’s Office. On July 16, 2025, a warrant was issued, and Rodriguez was taken into custody without incident at his home on Ferris Avenue. He was charged with sexual assault in the first degree and risk of injury to a minor. His bond was set at $1,000,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on July 17, 2025.

Fugitive from New Hampshire Arrested in Norwalk

Officers arrested Jianming Zeng, 33, a fugitive from the Sullivan County House of Corrections in New Hampshire, after responding to a report of a suspicious person at 331 West Avenue. A gas station attendant reported that a man wearing only a t-shirt and underwear, with blood on his hands, had entered the lot in a heavy-duty pickup truck and then left the scene. The truck’s license plate was determined to be stolen from Claremont, New Hampshire. Patrol officers located the truck minutes later at the Shell gas station at 94 West Avenue.
