#HARTFORD, CT – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, October 3, 2021, in recognition of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service, an observance honoring the sacrifices of firefighters who have died in the line of duty. The nationwide recognition occurs annually during Fire Prevention Week. New Seatbelt Law In Effect

HARTFORD, CT) – Monday, state Representative Cristin McCarthy Vahey (D-Fairfield) joined Governor Ned Lamont, Jennifer Homendy, chair of the National Transportation Safety Board the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Office of Highway Safety, and AAA to announce that beginning today, October 1, 2021, Connecticut law will now require all passengers to buckle up, regardless of where they are positioned in the vehicle. The new occupant protection law will mandate that all passengers in the back seat buckle up. Pre-existing law only required rear-seat passengers under 16 to buckle up, even though proper restraint use is effective for all ages. NEWINGTON, CT – SEPTEMBER 30, 2021 —   Texting and driving is one of the most dangerous forms of distracted driving.  And beginning on October 1, it is about to get more expensive.
