Bridgeport News: Bar Fight Now Possible Homicide

UPDATE from the City of Bridgeport: Ø  The victims name is Wayne Bentley of West Haven, Conn. (DOB: 2/26/1973).    The incident remains an apparent drowning, but the cause of death hasn’t been definitively declared yet.   This remains an active investigation, and anyone with information should contact Detective Vincent Lariccia at (203) 581-5229. Just after 1:30 Saturday morning Bridgeport Police received a call that two males went to the back of Chubby's at 3488 Fairfeild Avenue to fight and only one came back. Water Rescue At Chubby’s

1:34am--#Bridgeport CT--#Fairfield CT--#BlackRock--Both firefighters and police from both Fairfield and Bridgeport are searching for a person possibly in the water behind Chubby's at 3488 Fairfield Avenue on the Fairfield/Bridgeport line.  Witnesses said two men went to the back of the pub to fight and only one came out and they feared one of them fell back into Ash Creek.  Firefighters are using thermal cameras and are operating in a small boat but so far have found nothing.

#Westport CT–Now This Is A Out Of Control Grill Fire

#Westport CT--The Westport Fire Department responded to a gas grill fire in the rear yard of a house on Janson Drive. While stretching a hose line to extinguish the fire the fifteen pound propane tank “vented” sending flame out approximately ten foot from the valve connection. The fire was quickly extinguished and the remaining propane vented using a fog spray from the fire hose. The fire department responded with one command car, two engines and one ladder truck. There were no injuries to civilian or fire personnel.   Homeowners are advised to keep propane fueled gas grills away from the house and if possible to keep the valve connection facing away from the residence. Westport Police Need Your Help

#Westport CT-- The Westport Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in the provided surveillance photo. On Sunday July 26th, 2015 the victim had accidentally left his wallet on the side counter at the Country Store in Westport. After leaving the store the victim realized that he had left it there and returned. While reviewing the surveillance video with the manager they observed that the male customer behind him had picked up his wallet and then left the store. The suspect in the picture is described as a Hispanic male in his late 30’s Anyone who may have information about the identity of the pictured suspect is requested to contact the Westport Police Department Detective Bureau at 203-341-6080.

Protecting Recruiting Centers (Part 1)

On July 16, 2015, Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez opened fire on two military installations in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Military installations are gun free zones.  A number of citizens have taken up arms to protect our military recruiting center at 4490 Main Street.  Citizens in Connecticut are not accustomed to seeing armed citizens and have received mixed encounters with police.  Ray Foote had a positive experience, here is his story.
