Norwalk Sexual Offender Arrest

On December 14, 2023, Maurice Thomas-Riley, a 28-year-old resident of 18 Prospect Street Apartment C11, was arrested by warrant. He faces eleven charges of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. The arrest followed an investigation initiated by the Connecticut State Police Sex Offender Registry Unit, which informed the Norwalk Police Department of eleven separate violations occurring over a 2.5-year period. Thomas-Riley's court appearance is scheduled for December 29, 2023, with a set bond of $75,000.

Norwalk News: Burglary Suspects

The Detective Bureau is looking to identify the pictured individuals in connectionto burglaries of several motor vehicles in Norwalk on November 8, 2023. The twosuspects burglarized several vehicles parked on Muller Avenue and utilized theidentifications of the owners of the vehicles to cash over $30,000.00 in fraudulentchecks. Norwalk News: Stabbing Incident

At 4:24 PM on December 1, 2023, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a report of an individual sustaining a leg injury at 385 Connecticut Avenue's parking lot. Patrol division officers promptly arrived to support Norwalk Emergency Service personnel in providing medical assistance to the victim. A preliminary investigation by patrol officers uncovered that the victim, a domestic violence survivor, had been stabbed in the left thigh while seated in a vehicle with the suspect. The victim was transported to Norwalk Hospital via ambulance for treatment, while officers initiated a search for the suspect. Norwalk News: Stolen Vehicles

Since January 1, 2023, there have been eighty-seven motor vehicles stolen from different residents within the City of Norwalk. Of those eighty-seven, fifty-five vehicles had the keys left in the car. Norwalk Police Officers continue to work diligently to arrest suspects in these cases and locate the vehicles. We implore the Norwalk community to ALWAYS lock all car doors and remove all valuables from within. NEVER leave keys or fobs anywhere in the vehicle, no matter how well you think they are hidden, or even if you believe the vehicle is blocked in.

Norwalk News: Firearms Arrest

On November 10, 2023, the Norwalk Police Detective Bureau took William Hinton into custody. They had a warrant, that accused him of carrying a pistol without permission. This incident goes back to April 23, 2023, at 5:34 PM when Norwalk Police Officers went to 79 Cedar Street due to a disturbance. While looking into the situation, the officers arrested William Hinton after a short chase on foot. They charged him with interfering with an officer. Patrol officers searched the area where the foot chase happened and discovered a thrown-away 9mm Glock handgun. Detectives came to the scene to carefully handle and retrieve the handgun. On October 28, 2023 at 6:06 PM, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a 911 call reporting anevading motor vehicle accident at the intersection of East Rocks Road and Bayne Street.Norwalk Police Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. Arriving officers found asingle motorcycle that was struck by the evading vehicle. The operator and passenger of themotorcycle were transported to Norwalk Hospital with significant injuries. The passenger, 59-year-old Dawn Kravarik of Norwalk was pronounced deceased at Norwalk Hospital.The Norwalk Police Detective Bureau assumed the investigation and worked alongside Officersof the Norwalk Police Crash Reconstruction Unit who interviewed victims and witnesses,collected evidence, and executed search warrants to identify the operator of the evading vehicle.As a result of their investigation, an arrest warrant was…

The Detective Bureau is looking to identify the pictured individuals in connection to an attempted Robbery in Norwalk on 8/3/23. The victim was selling an item online and the suspect attempted to physically take it after offering fake currency. The suspect then indicated he had a weapon before fleeing the scene. A similar incident occurred in Danielson, CT on 10/25/23 involving the same two suspects. On October 26, 2023, Norwalk Police Detectives visited the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverhead, NY, to execute an extraditable warrant for Corey Poole. This arrest stemmed from a 2021 investigation into the fraudulent purchase of a Jeep Grand Cherokee worth over $50,000 using fake identification at a local car dealership. Following an extensive inquiry, detectives identified Poole as the primary suspect, uncovering his involvement in similar crimes across various jurisdictions in Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania. On October 29th at approximately 3:25PM Norwalk Police were notified of a deceased male floating in the Long Island Sound. Norwalk Police Marine Unit located and recovered the deceased individual. The Detective Bureau and The Office of the State Medical Examiner are currently investigating and trying to determine the identity.
