Fairfield, CT - July 7, 2023 - The Fairfield community is thrilled to announce the grand reopening of Sgt. Thomas Murphy Park, located behind Fairfield Fire Headquarters on 140 Reef Road and parallel to Nichols Street. A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 3:30 pm. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, and RTM, the park has undergone a remarkable transformation. In February of 2023, a total of $150,000 in funding was approved from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This funding has been utilized to demolish and remove the existing playground equipment and install brand-new equipment, including additional picnic tables and benches for enhanced community enjoyment. https://youtu.be/pMP1RDnrpjM
Bridgeport, CT – The City of Bridgeport launched an effort to ensure safety for all visitors and completed multiple tick applications which started June 30th. In a proactive effort to safely open Pleasure Beach, our team has undergone multiple site visits including members from the State of Connecticut specializing in tick population/control, the Connecticut Audubon Society, and outside contractors. The distribution of tick applications will continue once every three weeks The Parks Department will continue the mowing, maintenance, and beach combing throughout the season. Pleasure Beach Taxi Service will officially be open on July 8th, (Weekends Only, including Holidays). The Taxi Free Service to Pleasure Beach begins at 10am and stops at 4pm, Pleasure Beach closure is at 6pm.

Due to receiving an Extreme Warm Weather Advisory notice from the State of Connecticut, the Town of Stratford has initiated its Cooling Center protocol. On Wednesday July 5, 2023, at 12:23pm, Norwalk Police Combined Dispatch received a complaintthat Enrique Rivas-Castillo had threatened to the complainant via phone. Investigating PatrolDivision Officers learned that on July 3, 2023, Rivas-Castillo was at the victim’s residence in Norwalkand threatened to assault the victim. The victim ran out of the home, but Rivas-Castillo chased thevictim, eventually grabbing the victim and pulling the victim into his vehicle. He drove the victimonto I-95 and eventually an unknown exit, driving onto a dead-end street where he began punchingthe victim.
