The Stratford Library will return with its annual book sale Thursday, June 4 through Sunday, June 7, 2026. The sale, which is a major fund-raiser for the library, is organized by the Board of Trustees under Chair Shelley Hall of Stratford. Residential Burglary with Threats of Explosion On May 22, 2026, Patrol Officers responded to 150 Glover Avenue following a report of a residential burglary. The resident reported that a male had entered her apartment through a sliding door and announced, “Inspection.” The resident, awakened by the sound of the door being forced open, discovered the man in her kitchen removing knives from her knife block. The suspect stole six knives, made threatening statements about the building “blowing up” and “everyone dying,” and fled the apartment. Officers quickly located the suspect outside the building. He was identified as Nicolas I. Damjanovic and was found in possession of the stolen knives. During the encounter, Damjanovic reiterated his threat, claiming that the building's…
On May 26, 2026, at approximately 4:19 pm, the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received several calls for a collision involving a motor vehicle and a motorized scooter. The collision occurred at the intersection of North Avenue and Thompson Street. Bridgeport Police, Bridgeport Firefighters, and American Medical Response were dispatched to the location. Officers arrived on scene and observed Bridgeport Firefighters rendering medical aid to the operator of the motorized scooter. The motorized scooter operator was identified as an 18-year-old male of Bridgeport and transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital. The operator of the gray Honda CRV stayed on scene. A police pursuit ended on Exit 19 on I-95 Southbound in Southport. According to unconfirmed radio reports one officer was injured by a dog bite, but there is nothing confirmed at this time.

In 2019, Amtrak quietly implemented a broad arbitration agreement and class action waiver policy that include personal injury claims, such as gross negligence and wrongful death, as well as claims of discrimination. The policy’s forced arbitration provision requires Amtrak passengers to forfeit their right to sue Amtrak in a U.S. court for any reason with the purchase of an Amtrak ticket. On Thursday, May 14, 2026, members of the Trumbull Police Department Detective Bureau, Crime Suppression Unit, and the Bridgeport Police Task Force arrested Tushar Sharma, 23, of India, currently residing in Arcadia, California, following an investigation into a fraud scheme targeting a Trumbull resident. The investigation began after the victim reported receiving a Microsoft Windows pop-up message in March 2026. The victim contacted the telephone number associated with the message and was connected with an individual claiming to be a Federal Trade Commission agent. Over the course of the following month, the victim was falsely informed that her assets and family were in danger and was instructed to transfer funds to a purported federal agent for safekeeping.
