#STRATFORD – Following the state-mandated (C.G.S. 12-55) 2019 Revaluation process in the Town of Stratford, residents can expect to receive their Notices of Assessment Change in the mail next week.  The notices will demonstrate what the previous assessed value based on the October 1, 2014 Revaluation of their real property was, and what the new proposed assessment will be for the October 1, 2019 Revaluation. Residents who receive their new proposed assessment and have evidence demonstrating that the market value for their property differs from the proposed assessment can schedule an informal hearing with the revaluation company, Municipal Valuation Services, LLC, by visiting www.munival.com/stratford.   Instructions will be included in the mailed notice. 1:18pm--UPDATE:  Two more employees complaining of dizziness.  According to radio reports one of the heaters at the entrance was malfunctioning. 2019-11-29@1:03pm--#Stratford CT-- There is a reported gas leak at BJ's on Ferry Boulevard. Stratford News: White Oak Tree Donated

STRATFORD – As part of a statewide effort from the Connecticut Tree Protective Association (CTPA), a white oak has been donated to the Town of Stratford, and planted on the green in front of Town Hall this week.  The planting is in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the passage of the state’s Arborist Law.  The law requires licensure for practicing arborists in the state, putting Connecticut ahead of other states when it comes to tree care.   “I thank the CTPA for their gift to the Town of Stratford in commemoration of our state’s critical Arborist Law, and I am hopeful that this tree will grow strong and proud here out in front of our Town Hall building for residents…

Stratford News: Body Recovered In Water Rescue Of Capsized Boat

This morning at approximately 10:30am, Coast Guard Long Island Sound announced over marine frequency a capsized boat located in the area of Middle Ground, Long Island Sound,  Stratford Shoal Buoy #2 ( 4 subjects originally on board a 17’ center counsel boat). The USCG responded from Eaton’s Neck New York, located 3 male victims, and took them safely onto their vessel.  Those 3 victims were transported to the Bridgeport Water Street Dock where medics began treatment and transported them to Bridgeport Hospital. The Bridgeport Police Marine Unit responded to “Middle Ground” with Ofcs. Del Valle and Peslak.  They were met by the Fairfield Police Marine Unit.  The fourth male victim was located in the water southwest of the Middle Ground light house.  Ofc.…

The Stratford Library continues the fall season of “Sunday Afternoon Talks”, its monthly series of informative and entertaining talks featuring prominent local guest speakers, on Sunday, November 3 at 2 pm with “Stories from Stratford: “Shag Carpet Toilet” & “St. Stan’s: Tales from the Penguin Academy”.  Guest speaker is author Kenneth Lynch.  “Sunday Afternoon Talks” is free and open to the public.             Humorist Kenneth Lynch wrote two novels about his experiences growing up in Stratford in the early 1970s: “Shag Carpet Toilet” and “St. Stan’s: Tales from the Penguin Academy”.  Lynch was born in Bridgeport but soon moved to Stratford where he attended Franklin Elementary School, Holy Name of Jesus School, Wooster Junior High School and Stratford High School.  In his senior year, his family moved to Wallingford and lived there until…

#Stratford CT-- On 9/23/2017, The Stratford Police Department responded to the report of the Fatal Overdose of 27 year old Stratford woman. The Stratford Police Department, along with DEA Bridgeport conducted an investigation into the victim’s death. It was learned that the victim had used Heroin and Fentanyl just prior to her death. The victim’s death was ruled an Overdose by the State Medical Examiner, showing an intoxication of Heroin, Fentanyl, and other substances.   Through this investigation, Talvin Hinton age 43 of Bridgeport was identified as the individual who sold the victim the narcotics, just before her death.
