Westport, CT - Public Works Director Peter Ratkiewich announced that the first phase of work on the Kings Highway Bridge over Willow Brook will be commencing on or about February 24.  This first phase will involve the installation of a 36-inch diameter sleeve underneath the existing bridge to accommodate a 24-inch waterline.  This is an important first step in the effort to replace the existing bridge later on in 2020.   In order to facilitate the work, it will be necessary to close Kings Highway at the actual bridge location.  All residents and businesses that are adjacent to the bridge on either side will be able to access their properties during construction, but the bridge itself will be closed.  It…

Westport, CT – The Registrars of Voters announced the following : Connecticut is one of a small number of states that requires voters to join a political party prior to the day of a primary election or caucus for nominating candidates.  As a result, voters often discover they are ineligible to participate in a primary until they arrive at their polling place. It is unknown at this time which parties will hold primaries in 2020. However, it is advisable to be proactive and check your voter registration status prior to any anticipated primary. Westport Police Arrest Four for Wireless Store Larceny

#Westport, CT At approximately 4:30pm on the afternoon of Sunday January 26, 2020, the Westport Police Department’s emergency dispatch center was contacted by staff of the T-Mobile wireless store, located at 1799 Post Road East, reporting a larceny. The initial report was that three suspects had entered the store wearing masks and had immediately begun to steal a number of wireless phones from the displays within. It was explained that these suspects allegedly began forcibly removing displayed demonstration cell phones by ripping them from the various cases that they were affixed to. 2020-01-16@10:19 (Thursday)#Westport Fire, Police, and EMS were called to a single vehicle rollover on Cross Highway at the intersection of Wildwood Lane. First arriving units reported that all occupants were out of the vehicle. There was a single occupant in the vehicle that received aid from emergency services. The vehicle appeared to have exited the road, struck a utility pole, re- entered the roadway, and ended up on its roof. The specific details regarding the crash are being investigated by Westport Police. The occupant appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries and the roadway remains closed due to the utility pole that was sheared off at the base.
