#Westport News: Forgery and Larceny Charges

#Westport CT-- On Monday November 19, 2018 at approximately 2:33pm a resident responded to police headquarters reporting that she had been the victim of fraud. She explained that two withdrawals totaling $2240.00 had been successfully made from her checking account without her authorization. She additionally reported that a third withdrawal had been attempted but not processed in the amount of $1240.00. All three of these transactions had been processed in person at local bank branches. Through investigation which included working with the victim’s bank’s security personnel, two suspects were developed in this incident. Suspects were believed to be traveling in a silver BMW. Several minutes later, on December 12, 2019 at 12:09 AM, a second 911 call was received reporting that two males armed with handguns stole a vehicle and personal items from a victim who had just arrived home in the area of Kettle Road. Westport News: Cleaning Equipment Makes Mess During Fire

The Westport Fire Department Emergency Communications Center received a report of a fire on the second floor of a mixed occupancy building. The fire department responded with 4 Engines, a Rescue Truck, a Shift Commander, and a Safety Officer. Arriving companies found smoke coming from a second floor window. Engine 2 made access to the second floor and found a jewelry cleaning machine had been inadvertently placed on a hot stove. The machine had caught fire but was quickly extinguished. Firefighters ventilated the smoke from the building. The Norwalk and Wilton Fire Department’s responded to assist at the scene but were released prior to arrival. Westport Carjacking Ends In Fairfield

Police Update: Around midnight on 12/12/2019 a silver BMW was car-jacked at gun point in New Haven. Within thirty minutes, it is believed that the suspect(s) then drove to Norwalk and unsuccessfully attempted to car-jack a Maserati at gunpoint. The suspect(s) were then able to successfully car-jack a blue Nissan Altima at gunpoint. Norwalk PD located both vehicles (silver BMW and blue Altima) and pursued them onto I-95 northbound toward Fairfield. Westport PD and Norwalk PD were in pursuit when the BMW exited the 23 off-ramp in Fairfield, and continued immediately on the northbound entrance to I-95. Westport Police Department Investigates Stolen Motor Vehicle Complaint

(Westport, CT) At approximately 2:43am on the morning of Sunday November 24, 2019, the Westport Police Department was contacted by a resident in the Compo Beach area. He was reporting that he was watching out his window as his vehicle was being stolen from his driveway. The complainant provided relevant information and updates to dispatch while officers quickly began to set a perimeter around the area of the victim’s residence. Shortly after the initial call, one of our officers observed two vehicles traveling in his direction. One of these two was recognized as the vehicle that had just been reported as a stolen. Westport Firefighter Passes

#Westport CT-- It is with great sorrow we announce the untimely passing of Westport Firefighter Turk Aksoy who succumbed to an occupational cancer earlier today. He was 46 years old. Firefighter Aksoy was a 13-year veteran of the Westport Fire Department, and worked many years prior as a paramedic.   Firefighter Aksoy was predeceased by his wife Denise in January of 2019. He leaves behind two children. Turk will be memorialized by the Westport Firefighters, Local 1081 and the Westport Fire Department; the details of his services are still pending.
