Body Found Floating In The Housatonic River

UPDATE: State police confirmed the man jumped off the bridge, leaving his car with hazard lights flashing on the bridge. Stratford News: Gun Charges After Pursuit

Eris Hall age 22 of Bridgeport was arrested on 03-26-2019 after he led an officer on a car chase. The incident started at approximately 9:36pm on Stratford Avenue near Honeyspot Road and ended on Bruce Avenue. Hall refused to stop for officers and during his attempt to flee he threw a firearm out of the window of the vehicle. Hall had unloaded and dismantled the weapon prior to discarding it. The weapon, ammunition and high capacity magazine were recovered by investigating officers. Hall was charged with; Carrying A Pistol Without A Permit,  Weapon In A Motor Vehicle, Illegal Possession Of A High Capacity Magazine, Tampering With Evidence Reckless Driving,  Engaging Police In Pursuit,  Operating A Motor Vehicle Without A License…

Stratford News: Gunther’s Long Beach West Dedication

STRATFORD- A ceremony will be held for the dedication of Gunther’s Long Beach West at 10:00am on Monday, April 1, 2019.   The section of Long Beach was named after the late State Senator George “Doc” Gunther, a noted conservationist who served as State Senator from 1966- 2006.  The new name was assigned to the area by action of the Town Council in June of 2018.   Gunther’s family will be on hand for the ceremony and dedication and will receive a presentation from Mayor Laura R. Stratford News: No Tax Increase Planned

STRATFORD- Stratford Mayor Laura R. Hoydick formally presented her proposed operating budget for FY 2020 to the Town Council this evening, offering a plan that holds the line on taxes, continues efforts to streamline services and efficiencies, and sets policy priorities for the Town.  “Last year we were able to stop the harmful cycle of compounding tax increases by offering a modest tax decrease, and I am proud to present a budget this year that builds off of this, without any tax increases,” said Mayor Hoydick.  The $228.3 million budget spends 3.29% over the prior year, with a Grand List growth of 1.40%, holding the mill rate at 39.90.   The Mayor noted that significant challenges for the town remain depending on final state…

Stratford News: Crash After High Speed Pursuit

Stratford News: Person Shot

Stratford Police UPDATE: A shooting occurred in Stratford near 772 Success Avenue on March 7 th 2019. The incident occurred at approximately 8:47p.m. at which time one male victim was shot twice in the torso. The victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment and is in critical condition.
