#Westport, CT - The Westport Police Department is proud to participate in the 10 th Annual Push Against Cancer for Kids event. Individuals and teams from across Connecticut will show their strength and determination as they raise donations for The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. The event is scheduled for Sunday, June 9 th from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Staples High School girls’ field hockey/lacrosse field in Westport. Westport News: Check Theft From Mailbox

On 09/11/2018, a Tierney Lane resident reported a theft of mail from her mailbox. She was alerted to the theft after receiving a call from Patriot Bank advising two males attempted to cash one of her checks in the amount of $450. The check was made out to "Jermaine Smalls" and the victim’s signature had been forged. The check was cancelled by the bank because of the unrecognizable signature, resulting in no financial loss to the victim. It was one of 7 checks stolen from the victim and fraudulently deposited into various accounts. 2019-05-17 @ 2:56pm--#Westport CT--Westport Fire was dispatched to Newtown Turnpike for a reported wall collapse with a victim trapped under the collapse. The initial response was Engine 6, Engine 4, Truck 1, Rescue 3 and the Shift Commander. Westport EMS and Westport PD also responded.   Engine 6 arrived and reported that this was a construction site accident, occurring during the installation of a below grade water line. A trench wall collapse had occurred, trapping one victim in the trench up to their waist. Two workers were in the trench at the time of the collapse but fortunately the second worker was not caught in the collapse. Westport News: 2 Dogs Rescued In Fire

The Westport Fire Department responded to an automatic fire alarm at 10:40am at a residence on Sturges Highway. The initial assignment was 2 engines. Upon arrival, firefighters found a moderate smoke condition visible through the windows of the front door. Firefighters upgraded the response to include an additional 2 engines, 1 heavy rescue, and a command vehicle. Firefighters made entry and quickly found plastic burning in a pot on the stove. There was a moderate smoke condition on the first and second floors of the residence.   During their search, firefighters found 2 dogs and removed them from the smoke filled area. Westport Employee Arrested For Recording Female Student

On 04/02/19, School Resource Officer Wooldridge observed Westport Public School maintenance employee Paul Telep in the Staples High School cafeteria. Telep appeared to be recording students, particularly a juvenile female, with his work cell phone. SRO Wooldridge confronted Telep about the suspicious incident and notified school officials. Staples administrators later seized the phone, as it was property of the school system. A forensic search of the phone conducted by Westport detectives revealed Telep had deleted seven videos. The videos all featured the same female student recorded on different dates/times, including the incident in which Telep was observed by School Resource Officer Woolridge. POLICEE UPDATE:  Police said the deceased was identified as Antonio Dopoco, 86, of Trumbull, CT.
