Westport Employee Arrested For Recording Female Student

On 04/02/19, School Resource Officer Wooldridge observed Westport Public School maintenance employee Paul Telep in the Staples High School cafeteria. Telep appeared to be recording students, particularly a juvenile female, with his work cell phone. SRO Wooldridge confronted Telep about the suspicious incident and notified school officials. Staples administrators later seized the phone, as it was property of the school system. A forensic search of the phone conducted by Westport detectives revealed Telep had deleted seven videos. The videos all featured the same female student recorded on different dates/times, including the incident in which Telep was observed by School Resource Officer Woolridge. POLICEE UPDATE:  Police said the deceased was identified as Antonio Dopoco, 86, of Trumbull, CT. On 12/18/2018, officers responded to a report of an overnight burglary at a residence on Oak Ridge Park. The victim woke to several text messages from the fraud division of her credit card company, which advised her credit card was possibly fraudulently used at three locations in Norwalk charging approximately $170. #Westport CT--Just before 0930 this morning, Westport Fire Department was requested to respond to Route 15 northbound for a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries. One Engine, the Rescue and the Shift Commander responded. Subsequent information from the scene reported multiple vehicles involved and people walking around the roadway, so a second Engine was added to the assignment for manpower. Westport EMS, Westport Police and CT State Police also responded to the scene.   First arriving Fire Department units found the highway already shut down by traffic between the exit 42 off and on ramps. #Westport CT--Yinri Tirado of Norwalk, CT, was arrested on 04/12/2019 after a 16 year old female walking along the Saugatuck River reported a man approached her and made a lewd comment. She was able to provide a description of the male, who was located a short distance away by officers and was taken into custody. #Westport CT--On 04/12/2019 at approximately 11:30 pm, the victim reported an illegal dumping complaint on Franklin Street. The victim’s property had been the site of several recent illegal dumping incidents in which a suspect has left boxes containing decapitated chickens. The victim reported a suspect just dropped a bag on his property and was running south on Franklin Street towards Saugatuck Railroad Station. The bag was found to contain two decapitated chickens and one white pigeon.   Corporal Smith located the male, identified as Ajamu Obataiye, at the train station. The victim’s home surveillance footage confirmed Obataiye was the suspect. WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Youth Commission is currently seeking students in Grades 8-11 and adult members for the 2019-2020 school year. “The Youth Commission serves as a public forum for youth issues and advocates for youth needs and concerns in the community,” Human Services Director Elaine Daignault said in a statement.  “Its 30 members, 15 students and 15 adults, are appointed by the First Selectman.” Incoming grade 9 students are invited to join the Freshman Committee prior to applying for appointment as sophomores. In September 2018, the victim reported a larceny to investigators. The victim reported he had received an insurance renewal quote from High Ridge Agency in October 2017 for a full year commercial liability policy and excess coverage umbrella policy. The victim submitted full payment of premiums for both policies in an amount exceeding $33,000. In August 2018, the victim became aware that both policies were cancelled due to non- payment of a finance agreement. The excess liability coverage was canceled in February and the commercial liability coverage in May.   The victim then contacted Thomas Massotti, sole agent of High Ridge Agency, and asked about the cancellations. #Westport CT--On 04/22/2019, a Westport resident received a phone call from someone purporting to work for the Social Security Administration using what appeared on the caller identification as a legitimate phone number for the Social Security Administration. The caller told the resident her social security number was being used fraudulently in another state. The caller also knew her name and correct social security number. Minutes after ending the call, later the victim received a phone call from what appeared to be the Westport Police Department non-emergency line, 203-341-6000.
