#Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim announced that for the fourth year in a row his administration is dedicating more than $250,000 in the Fiscal Year 2020 City of Bridgeport budget to fund the Mayor’s Summer Youth Initiative. A substantial portion of this allocation provides youth with summer employment opportunities while the balance is made available to local nonprofits planning summer opportunities for older youth. 2019-05-15 @ 11:14pm--One arrest was made in a shots fired incident off Madison Avenue near McKinley and Jackson Avenue. The firearm and the suspect was apprehended on Jackson Avenue and positively identified by multiple witnesses. There are no reports of anyone or anything hit at this time. #Stratford CT--As an opportunity for its patrons to clear overdue fines and to assist food drive efforts in the community, the Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford, will offer Food for Fines during the entire month of May. Each non- perishable, non-expired food item is worth $1 of fines. Non- perishable food will be collected for the South End Community Center food pantry. Food items must not be damaged, open or expired. Non-perishable items currently needed are: pasta, cold and hot cereals, spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, peanut butter and jelly, canned vegetables, soups (dry and condensed) and rice. Bridgeport News: Police Charge Two In February Homicide

#Bridgeport CT--This afternoon members of the Detective Bureau arrested the two men believed to be responsible for the February 11, 2019, homicide of 19-year-old Dyshon Williams at Luis Munoz Marin Elementary School. The evidence indicates that Williams went to the school at about 10:30 pm to sell two ounces of marijuana to his friend, Darrick Tunstall (DOB: 3/15/00 of 231 Horace St). When Williams arrived, Tunstall and his friend, Vaughn Thomas Jr. (DOB: 3/8/99 of 22 Nelson Terrace) allegedly attempted to rob Williams of the marijuana, fatally shooting him in the process. Tunstall is charged with Felony Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery in the First Degree, and Robbery in the First Degree. He is being held on a $1,000,000 bond. Westport News: 2 Dogs Rescued In Fire

The Westport Fire Department responded to an automatic fire alarm at 10:40am at a residence on Sturges Highway. The initial assignment was 2 engines. Upon arrival, firefighters found a moderate smoke condition visible through the windows of the front door. Firefighters upgraded the response to include an additional 2 engines, 1 heavy rescue, and a command vehicle. Firefighters made entry and quickly found plastic burning in a pot on the stove. There was a moderate smoke condition on the first and second floors of the residence. During their search, firefighters found 2 dogs and removed them from the smoke filled area.
